Re: Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam European Tour....

Yes, too bad you couldn't make it Eva + Günter. It was really a great gig and the band was on fire.

I posted a long review on DK's forum: http://davyknowles.proboards.com/index. … ;thread=41. Just look for the very long post on page 2.  wink

I think the whole review ist too long for this thread, so I'll just sum it up:

We (my wife Miri + me) were invited to watch the soundcheck because I wanted to get my guitar signed by Davy. So after the soundcheck, Davy came over and signed my Strat and Miri's mandolin. He also played our instruments (and said he liked them  big_smile). Then he showed me his PRS guitar "Ellie" and I got to play it - just accoustically not with an amp.

We even had a little jam. Davy playing my guitar and me playing his. Wow, I'm still under the impression of that moment!  cool

Davy took a lot of time to talk to us. What a great and sociable guy he is...

When they started to play the gig in the evening, the audience crowded in front of the stage and you could see that many people had come because they knew and loved their songs. The audience was twice as big as last time (in March). After the gig, the band spent a lot of time signing autographs and talking to the fans.

What a great day that was!  big_smile

Re: Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam European Tour....

I have some film from last night but haven't got around to even looking at it yet as we've been pretty busy.  tongue

Yes, I'm a believer! This boy has a special vibe about him and was certainly my highlight of last night as it was my first live shot of Davey - sadly, it was only a short set, no more than 40 minutes, but I loved every minute!

There were quite a few young people down at the front with us, so some people here have heard of Davey even though he's never played here before. Cathy's BDS t-shirt attracted comments from a couple of Dutch guys during the intermission. They had never heard of him but were knocked out by his talent and his potential. We could only agree.  big_smile

We pointed them at this forum too (they both knew and appreciated Joe but had not yet had their Bonagobsmacking),so let us know if you guys make it here, ok?  wink

I knew you'd like him George.  My brother was absolutely gob-smacked when he finally got to see him in September.  Looking forward to your videos.

Have fun this weekend.  You and Cathy will be at Joe's last European show this weekend, and I will be seeing him the night he opens over here.  Have fun!

Hi Cathy!

Hey Guenter,
I heared that Eva was the one who got Roy interested in DK & BDS. So I'm sure Davy would really like to have a talk with the two of you.

Beim dritten Mal klappt's bestimmt.  smile

Hey Roy.

Your German is much better than Davy's wink.

"Sie können Ihre Finger zum dritten Mal überqueren, aber egal, müssen Sie hin!"  =  "You can walk across your fingers for a third time but no matter what, go there you must."

"You can keep your fingers crossed for a third time but no matter what, you must go there."  =  "Du kannst deine Daumen zum dritten Mal drücken, aber egal, du musst hin."

The German language is awfully hard to learn. I'm glad I grew up with it. English is much easier (I'm not saying that my
English is perfect!). Most Germans know that, so they're always pleased when an English speaking person says something in German.

Hey, that reminds me of Mark Twain's essay "The Awful German Language". Great stuff... smile

Re: Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam European Tour....

Rusty, I wish I could speak German, so if I was a little off I can only blame myself and the Google translator. I once could speak Spanish, but that was many beers and wines ago when I was a very, very young man. Funny how the mind works, now I can only remember the vulgar Spanish words. wink  lol

Günter, zum vierten Mal? Ich dachte, Sie hätten nur zwei vorherigen Chancen der jungen Davy sehen?
