Topic: K.I.S.S

Maybe this hasn't been answered, maybe it has.  Here's a question for Joe.
Do you have a simple rig you use when you're not in a studio?  I.E., like a little combo amp and guitar you tool around with? You have an awesome aresnal of gear, but are there times when you are just using the K.I.S.S. method?

Re: K.I.S.S

Pardon me for chiming in, but if I had to wager a guess - it'd be his signnature Les Paul run straight into a Marshall Class 5 amp. Good for warm ups, radio shows, very mobile... etc.

At first I thought you were going to ask Joe how he does his best Paul Stanley or Ace Frehley moment!  cool

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Sounds like a good combination of simple gear.

I should actually explain my home practice low volume rig..  I live in LA at a condo complex.  Very Hollywood types live here.. They have no interest in hearing the bluesboy crank up the jams late at night so I devised a rig for my house ..
1.  1987 Marshall Silver series Marshall 50 watt 1X12 combo..
2  1965 Fender Princeton Reverb or a 1957 Fender Vibrolux with a Kendrick reverb unit
3 THD Hot Plate ( for Princeton Only)
4 paired down pedal board (spare)
AB/Both switch, Vox Wah , TS 808 RI , Fuchs Audio prototype "Creme " pedal and A boss DD-3 delay.
I get a pretty good approximation of my big rig at TV volume.. You know  watching a Law and Order Marathon and playing guitar at the same time  kinda thing. Can hear the TV and guitar at the same time.. No Broom sticks from below..( been there done that).
Anyway.. There is always another way to get your tone..

Awesome.  That's the kind of information people on here should really focus on.  I suspect very few play stages or have the space to play the monsterious rigs Mr. B uses.  Everyone focuses on his stage gear when most everyone plays in their bedrooms/living rooms/basement..etc...

Re: K.I.S.S

There was another post by Joe I remember about his run around rig for session work. It was associated with the threads on Lee Ritenour's 6 string theory studio session. Joe called it his "grab and go rig" and said he could carry both his guitar and the amp and it fit in his car trunk. It might have been that '57 Fender.

Re: K.I.S.S

Yeah, good point.  I always wanted a Two Rock since the first time I played one and when I stumbled on a mint Ceriatone OTS 50-watt, I snatched it up, great amp, but at the end fo the day, never get to use the amp pass 2 before playing for the whole town. When I go jam at local pub, I always just bring my pedal board and my Tweed Blues Jr, so what's the purpose....hmmm....maybe should have bought a TR combo and or get a Marshall Class 5 and A/B with Tweed Blues Jr....hmmm.

Yeah you guys got it,  It was my candy apple blue JB Les Paul a Klotz cable and my 1974 Boogie Mark one.  It was my classic cash and carry LA studio set up.  I can carry both at the same time, put the diet coke, tuner and a note pad in your back pack and thats a session.  We did the recording at Henson Studios.  It was a blast.. Made a lot of new friends that day.  Its a great record all the way around.  I am very proud to be on it.  Cheers to Lee.. He is ace.

Yeah, when I read some of these forums on the internet, the way people talk you'd think they are ALL national recording artists!  I'm sure a lot of them are SERIOUS musicians too.  I like taking a big set up out when I play, but I am growing tired of the load, unload, re load, and unload again at home.  Nobody there really cares what amps I have or guitars I'm using anyway..!  Been debating on just using my Tweaker head and maybe abother small watt head and doing a mini dual amp rig with my 2x12 cabs.  -Seth

My setup is simple too.  Boss TU-12EX to Digitech Bad Monkey to a Fender Superchamp XD (head) into a 2x12 homemade cabinet.  All the tone I need plus portablity.  Soon to get a NOS Fender Champ clone to replace the Superchamp XD.
