Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

Current word on delivery is Jan 2011 to Holland ..a week or so later to the UK

Anyone know when delivery in U.S. might be?  Musicians Friend website says it ships 31 Dec, butt American Musical said 10 Jan.  I preordered, and got a confirmation from Musicians Friend, but no shipment date in the confirmation.

Thanks

I just called Musicians Friend.  They said Epi told them they are still expected on31 Dec.  Maybe each merchant was promised a different delivery date, for logistics of shipping?  Anyway, I verified that my pre order guaranteed me one.  They said they have more scheduled to be delivered than pre orders on file, so they will have a few left for stock, if there are no more pre orders before delivery.

Those Comments about the Epi JB model will wake you up in the morning..  I don't know why people feel the need to bad mouth something they have never seen or played.   My favorite quote is " Joe- corporate rock Whore who cant write a song -Bonamassa.  That was really lovely especially around the holidays.  So I felt the need to kind of set the record straight why we are doing these in the first place.  I wanted Kids and those who dont have 3999.00 to spend on a guitar to have a chance get a gold top similar to the ones I use everyday.  I have the prototype and its ace.  The guitars are like 699 street.  I spoke to Gibson about the amount of request for a more affordable model and they were nice enough at Gibson/Epiphone to do this.  I really stand by the quality of these things.  They play great and from the few I have seen are really consistent.  For those who take cheap shots at something they don't get or haven't seen.. I mean I think you are better than that really.. I wouldn't do that..  Mom and Dad raised me better. Why waste the cyber trees.. Just shhhhhhhh
Thanks

Yeah, they are out there! I really wish they wouldn't be that way!

I really did want the "Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Gold Top" and missed the boat on it. I ended up buying the Gibson "Gold Top Standard" instead. I really like it but  I might have waited if I had known there was an Epiphone model in the works!

I think Epiphone makes awesome guitars at an affordable price. I have the 65 RI Casino Elitist and it rivals the best of any when it comes to Fit and Finish!

If Joe put's his name behind it, it's certainly good enough for me.

Joe please disregard the negativity.

The Epihpones were a great idea!
I'm an older guy learning how to play, but still want good tone and this gives me an opportunity to do that without breaking the bank.

Thanks for this idea and using your influence to create an affordable guitar, I've got one on order and can't wait to try it.

Have a Merry Chistmas, and hang in there!

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

I've got to say, I found out about the Epiphone model releasing today, and they look pretty sweet. Thing is, you can get a used Gibson Studio up here in Canada land for about the same price... But I mean that signed certificate might be a deal breaker big_smile

Oh, and if your eyes happen to stumble across my block of text Joe, remember; haters gonna hate. Especially on the internet, and ESPECIALLY on Gibson's website haha.

i saw a couple of used studios on the wall in GC last week.
some as cheap as $550.
i'll take the binding on the body and neck as well as a pair of bursbuckers and the shwanky gold top on the epi (i think both have the '59ish neck, no?  maybe not)
i'll also say i prefer the tuners on the epi and the bonus of the strap locks.
the studios are a good guitar, but i think there is a LOT of bang for buck in this model with or without joe's name and sig.  if they do a solid job on the fingerboard and fret dressing, i'm going to jump up and down like a silly little kid tongue
oh. . . and don't forget a case included. . . with that . . . um. . . pink interior!!!!

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

Thomann in Germany wont be getting theirs in stock until the 30th of January mad , hopefully it'll be worth the wait

Guitars: Epiphone JBLP, Epiphone Les Paul Custom
Amps: Marshall Vintage Modern, 18 watt clone

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

Got mine ordered from Andertons in the UK. The guy on the phone said they were getting 10 in but he didn't have a date as Epiphone take a while with these things and don't tell them much. He even couldn't believe the price when he searched it on his system! Think it may have convinced him to buy one for himself! Great price at £499 though!

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

I preordered through American Musical Supply as they were the first domestic E-tailer to list it, but now I see that Musician's Friend has it up on their site.

Major Tom to ground control...

That's probably the reason why JB EPI GT disappeared from their site.  sad  neutral

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

I wonder which gauge strings it will come with.
Everything else is given in the specs except this.
10's?  9's?
I'm not very experienced and have only ever used 10's (EB Regulars)
Wouldn't mind it coming pre-strung with 9's to save me a job. Easier for bends?
Or go heavier for tone?

From Gibson's website:

"Strings:    .010 - .046, Swedish stell "hex" core"

10's are usually the standard, I would say.  The guitar should "hopefully" be set up correctly for the 10's, so I would try those and see how you like it.  If they're too heavy, you could go with 9's, or you could stick with 10's and top-wrap them.  Personally, I always play 11's.  I'm just used to them and like the tone more.  You could go with 11's and top-wrap those as well (makes them feel more like 10's, but keeps the tone of 11's--this is what Joe does).
