Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

Well here we go,Mom and Pop music shop, in Rodchester,NY, just sent me a tracking # for Epipy JB #4 in my saga. LOL I finally got a good one from MF,and when I sent the old one back I tried to just cancell my order, but they said NO not as long as they have one to send me. I wonder if it will have the black case, like the two that showed up on E-Bay or the tan one. Hmm

So how about a poll, who thinks #4 will make it in one peice ?  tongue

Here's a broken Epi JBLP on eBay...

Wonder what it will go for???

That's VERY fixable!  The binding and fretboard are undamaged!  Just needs a new nut, which is a good idea, anyway.   The one I fixed had broken from the Low E tuner hole across to the High E tuner hole.   With this one you found, all you'd need to do is put a condom over the truss rod to keep glue from seizing it up, and then glue and clamp that thing!  A little wood filler and sanding and paint and there ya go!
I did give mine a Gibson shaped headstock, but I left it black with no logo on it.  I put a thin veneer over the top of it and put a Standard truss rod cover on it, too.

Hmmm, it closed for just a tick over $400.... not sure if that's good or not  neutral

I think it will...I hope it does smile

So are they making up for the broken ones or is the limited edition pool getting smaller every time one of these breaks?

I basically asked the same question a few weeks ago and nobody answered me:  hmm

I've been wondering what happens to the busted ones that are returned to the manufacturer AND what happens to that serial number?  Depending on the severity of the problem, do they attempt to repair it, and resell it?  Or, if it's trashed, is that serial number forever out of circulation, or do they build a replacement for that serial number?  If they're not replacing the trashed ones, then this is REALLY gonna be a limited run.  I'm not a player or a buyer, so forgive me for not knowing how it works, but in reading about all these problems the past few weeks, I've become curious.

I'm thinking nobody knows for sure big_smile ... but we have seen at least one broken one on eBay. And there is always a good selection of 2nd, B-Stock or U-fix guitars on there. Marked that way to void waranty claims. It's cheaper to write it off than repair it. And iif it's damagd in shipping, it's should be covered by insurance. Forgive me if I'm rambling, just thinking out loud at the keyboard.

They probably set up for the production run and ran off guitars until they had 1000 units that made it through QC. I'm not sure how much they would have to re-tool to make up for the broken ones. This neck profile and the long tenon are not typical Epi offerings. So it's probably 1000 including broken ones but who knows....

One damn fine guitar. It took me three to get one in playable condition but whoooooa. It was worth it. I hardly pick up my Gibsons any more.  As a matter of fact I believe I'm gonna replace all my pick ups in my Gibsons with Burst Busters. Man I love them pick ups. Too bad swapping out necks isn't that easy. I love that 59 type neck.

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

Aaaargh!!! After waiting over a month AMS cancelled my order. I was supposed to be 23 of 30 on the latest shipment expected tomorrow...and no longer available. Just secured one through eBay. There are only a few left there so hurry.

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

I'd pre-ordered mine Nov. 4th through my local Gibson/Epiphone dealer.  Got the call earlier this evening & perked up thinking it was finally in.  Nah...he says Epiphone took it off of backorder due to they were over-sold & all spoken for now.  How does that happen?  I'm at a loss for words. hmm

Nope no dealer here, just a fan that got two with broken headstock's,got scared and ordered one from MF ,and bought one off E-Bay,got the one from MF and couldn't stop the 4th from coming.  And our member Rythmplaya spoke up first,on it's way to it's new home in the A.M.     Sorry guys.

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

Well, thanks to my wonderful wife and a dear friend (with whom I saw Joe last week in Peoria), I got one this evening!  big_smile   The Peoria show was the day after my letdown, so that lifted my spirits.  Going into the weekend, I was again shocked & deflated about it.

Over the weekend, my friend located one at a Chicagoland Sam Ash & had it held for me so I could follow up and seal the deal.  It went out yesterday & came home this evening (missed the 1st FedEx attempt, but picked it up).  I'm letting it acclimate overnight.

Thanks, guys, for highlighting the earlier ebay opportunities.  Sometimes, things work out.  smile

More later...

Wow this is good and bad,if this could be done on Epipy's why not others, making it even harder still to quickly spot a fake. hmm
