Have tried both and my vote would be OCD with slight reverb and a good delay pedal to get even closer.
Good luck in Mission Impossible
If you are using a strat, I would go with an OCD. If you are using a Les Paul I would go with a Tubescreamer.
Joe himself uses a tubescreamer in front of his rented DSLs for his gigs when the big rig isn't available. He uses a TS808 on the classic channel + boost engaged. Both volumes are very high so you are getting a lot of natural power tube breakup already. He recommended to me to have the volumes around 6 or 7 and hit the front end with the TS. I love my OCD but it's more ZZ Top than JB. The mids are a lot more neutral on the OCD and for the Joe tone it's all about the midrange. I'll say it again, for me the best "JB-in-a-box" pedal into any amp is the Fulltone Fulldrive 2. For some darn reason I can always get a great Joe tone out of that box.

The best pedal I have heard at this (and I spent over 2 hrs back to backing it with a vintage TS9) is the Kingsley Jester tube OD. It is effectively a 3 stage premap in a pedal! Oh + a 3 stage boost....!!
It's cheap for what it is too. It's point to point wired and immensely complex.
If you read up on it on Harmony you'll find guys there that have sold limbs, pets and close relatives to buy one.
Just because Joe hasn't used it (yet) does not mean to say it doesn't give you his tones!

If you are playing at high volume I'd go with the tube screamer. If you play quiet with no power tube breakup then the OCD. I have owned both but kept the tube screamer. Like stratpaul guys says the fulldrive 2 might be a good choice. It also has that boost function which is useful.
cheers for the input guys, my guitar is a prs custom 24, would a tubescreamer be much different to a boss super
overdrive sd1.Also if the dsl is on the clean channel with the gain up high does this not render it a one channel amp, im presuming the tubescreamer is a solo boost is that right.
+1

I've been lookin for a new overdrive to
Use with my DSL 100w head and 4x12
cab(16ohm vintage 30's) to use in the
classic channel, I've seen a few on eBay today
and there are a few different kinds MOSFET and non-
MOSFET and some have two switches!
Could anyone explain the difference in these
models? would be a great help or could
Anyone tell me what Joe was using at
the BCC gig the other night, it appears
he was using hired gear! What overdrive
etc was he using? Cheers Ted

so what are the 2 pedals with the white knobs on anyone??
They are G Lab pedals. The one on the right of picture is a Dual Reverb and the one with lighted knobs is a Smooth Delay.
A adaptor is also G Lab. They are made in Poland Never tried them but heard they're cool.
BTW some different 808 settings?
