Topic: Traded my Telecaster.
A while back I sold a Les Paul because I had Telecaster Fever. I have played that Telecaster a hand full of times but for the most part haven't been happy with it. It plays great and sound really good, but thats not the problem. Its the 60 cycle hum. I think this guitar hums more then any guitar I've ever owned and believe me I've owned some turds. Plus the thing weights as much as a Les Paul which was sort of a deal breaker for me as I hate feeling 10lbs on my shoulders after 3 hours of playing. So my dad made me an offer because he's a Tele guy. A few months back I buit a parts Stratocaster for him out of 2 guitars he had, I was supposed to sell the rest of the parts but instead put the neck on the other body and soldered his pickups in and before I knew it I had built a really nice sounding and playing stratocaster out of junk basically. So I valued the neck at maybe $300 (V neck 50's Classic mim) and the MIM Standard strat body at around $200. Pickups were from a 50's Classic as well. So I guessed the guitar was worth $500 or more as just parts. I only paid $600 for the Baja Telecaster so I took dad up on his deal that we swap guitars. Oh I also got a Roland Micro Cube in the deal as well. So was that a pretty good deal or should I reconsider? I think the Tele could be cured with some serious sheilding but it will still weight 10 lbs. The strat has major potential as being a serious players guitar and not near as noisiey as the tele.
