I think Tiger has to be the favorite. I didn't know about the redesign, son and I play the south course on the PS3 and it is very challenging. My understanding is they play the south and north courses the first two days, and then just the south on the last two days. I hope they didn't change it too much, I would like to "cheat" by watching different golfers strategies on certain holes. There won't be a whole lot of scoring if the wind is running 20-25, then it plays much tougher.

I don't know exactly what but it was just a few holes on the South that got a workover. Better believe it won't play easier. San Diego is proud of this gem. One of the few public courses in the nation with pro level play.

Re: Anyone for Golf ?

i never really liked or fully understood this game,
and i certainly don't know why it's considered a sport because the players barely move!!!

If you change your shoes to play, it's a sport.

didn't realize it was a public course either. Bethpage Black @ Long Island,NY is another public course that is just a beast. It is by far the toughest course on the video game we have.

When we visited San Diego in 2011 we went to the South Course and I was able to get my son on to play for about $100 which was a pretty good deal, but he refused citing he didn't have his own clubs.  I told him this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, but he wouldn't budge.    We walked out to the first tee and the view was spectacular.  A straight chute downhill to the Pacific Ocean and a course every bit as beautiful as those two at Carmel by the Sea.

Re: Anyone for Golf ?

Pissing down rain today. Not a deluge but a steady soaker without much wind at all. This will have a big effect on play with minimum carry on the fairways but soft greens. Tiger looking strong.

edit: Thick fog and drizzle Saturday has delays on the course. Airport shut down due to the fog, it's really pea soup! This, btw, is what the Torrey Pine trees (only found here) thrive in. They have unique clusters of grooved needles in fives that capture mist and make rain when it's foggy. I have a huge 60 footer in the back yard and it really rains under it when it's foggy. A deluge today.

Fun to watch Phil go low, I was hoping that last putt would drop.

Re: Anyone for Golf ?

Nice to see him back in it- my favorite player and a homie to boot. He had a terrible outing at Torrey Pines. He's getting up there at 42 and has said his family is what he really cares about. I know he suffers from arthritis and those damp conditions may have affected his game.

Phil is making a run today at Pebble Beach, 4 under through 9 ( -3 on the day). Not bad, he has 2 more days to catch them and he's only 3 back of the lead. I don't understand why Tiger is not playing this one, anybody know?

Don't know why he isn't playing. Article in local sports page said Phil's grandfather was a caddy at PB and it has a special place in his heart. Go Phil!

Re: Anyone for Golf ?

Nice to see a Midwesterner win.

Re: Anyone for Golf ?

day 2 of the Cadillac whatever is starting about now at Doral, the Blue Monster as they call it. This is the last tournament before Donald Trump "blows it up" next week with his course redesign plans. It is really tough but I like it, son and I play it on the Tiger Woods video game. Six under par is a pretty good score for yesterday, however there was little to no wind to deal with. I've got a bunch of favs at the top of the board including Bubba Watson. Last weeks winner Michael Thompson is at -3, very much in the hunt. Go Michael!!!

Re: Anyone for Golf ?

if todays board is any indication, this could be a fantastic shootout come Sunday. Phil and Tiger are tied at the top, but many other notable names up there as well. but not Rory, will he give up again?.......we'll see. I want to see him play well, but this year has been a total disaster so far.

I'm a huge Tiger fan and he's playing well.  Rory is playing better although not in contention. He apologized for walking off the course last week as he will not have the wisdom tooth extracted until after the US Open (which I'll be going to) in June

Re: Anyone for Golf ?

Tiger finishes his second round with a two shot lead. Too bad Rory had that first round, love to see them playing together.

Tiger and G-Mac to play last on Saturday. Get all my errands done early to watch,

And home just in time to see Tiger in the rough on his opening drive.
