Congrats to Phil Mickelson - one great round of golf - bit sad for Lee Westwood - just ran out of steam, oh well!

He said it was the best game he'd ever played, and on a course that brought the rest to their knees. Big coverage in the local fishwrap since he is San Diego's favorite son.

It's a big deal for Curby too.  I've met Phil a few times and he's the modern day version of Arnold Palmer.  I love it when he plays smart and listens to Bones.

everybody ready for some PGA championship? Course looks like it's in really good shape, Tiger says the greens are pretty fast. Looks like it will be nice tomorrow, a good chance of storms on Friday, then clearing out for mostly sunny skies in the mid 70's on Sat & Sun. I would like to see Tiger play well and have at least a shot come Sunday, but not a runaway like last week. Nobody wants to see that. smile

I'm afraid that the tv may be on hiatus here. TWC is my provider and they are at odds with NBC. First no bb,now golf? sad mad

Wow, thought it was CBS they were fighting with.  A lot of the coverage will be on TNT the first few days btw here.  I've got to say its time for Tiger to shut the critics up. Not that winning 5 of 10 starts is a bad year...

I'll hope. Feelthy Filner the groper! Makes one wish for the good old days of tar, feathers and a rail. The turkey is trying to hang on for pension vesting so he can triple dip. mad That redhead will have him broke when she gets done. smile

TNT today and tomorrow, should be starting at 9:00 your time. That will be a real bummer if you can't get the final 2 rounds. good luck, I know you will be pulling for Phil. the San Diego mayor doesn't have anything to do with the cable companies does he, he piss them off too? lol

Re: Anyone for Golf ?

Congrats to Dufner, he played very steady down the stretch.

Absolutely. He must have shut out memories of the ball he put in the water that one time

Re: Anyone for Golf ?

For the first time EVER, I stopped watching a major after 9 holes. Having Dufner and Furyk in the final group was just too painful for me. I'm sure they're probably terrific guys off the course but I just can't watch them play golf. Furyk is a human rain delay who NEVER seems to be ready and Dufner always looks like his dog just got run over.

A Stenson/ Scott twosome would have been much more exciting, IMHO.

Re: Anyone for Golf ?

I only caught a bit, and none of the back nine.
I actually like both Furyk AND Dufner. Both good players, like able guys if you hear them talk, and well respected by their peers. Never noticed Jim being slower than anyone else out there.

One funny item: when I wrote the above, spell check tried to change Dufner to duffer! Lmao...not this week!

and the PGA is off and running today at Torrey Pines. Tiger will be one of the very last to tee off today, he loves this course and I expect him to be somewhere near the top come Sunday. The wind can be a problem at times, but not this week so we should see some good scoring. I don't play any more but love to watch it. I do play it on the Tiger Woods game for PS3, sometimes the wind is running 20-30 miles an hour, or worse. Winds are at 8mph today and forecast for about the same through Sunday.

I don't play anymore either Tres, but maybe I'll change my mind.  I've been known to do that.  A few years ago when I was in San Diego the three of us went to Torrey Pines and I had it set up for the boy to play the US Open course, but he refused.  Dang I wish he had.  We walked out to the first tee and you could see straight down to the ocean.  Very beautiful course.

Pride of our city. I am plugging for our local son Lefty as usual (he has a new driver which has fixed his long game he says). It will play slow in the mornings until the dew from the fog burns off. We have had some thick fog lately. The rest of the country stuck in frozen tundra mode can eat their hearts out. tongue

No golfing in the Great Northwoods today, but I did get in about an hour of snowblowing, I know that is good for my back swing.

the Aussies are baaack, Leishman is leading and Day is right up there as well. Tiger has managed to get to -2 but still not playing the par fives like he needs to. Bubba and Phil have lost strokes today and are tied at -1. The projected cut is at even par. Should be an interesting weekend.

Phil almost pulled out yesterday when he tweaked his back mid-course on the South and  it locked up on him. He played it easy for up and down pars and said he didn't know if he could go on. Therapy last night must have been good if he played that well on the North.
