One observation. This was the first time I had experienced an European standing event. They suck. Stifling heat and crowding led to a final retreat from our front row area before Jeff Beck came on, not to mention how my back and feet felt after standing for 3 hours. I want my seat to have a number and I want it to be mine for the whole show. If it is expensive, so be it.
Rick

My sentiments exactly.

How can you guys sit still at a Joe Bonamassa concert? Even though we had front row seats at our last Joe show, both Mrs Icon and myself felt totally constrained. The only advantage was not having to stand in line for a couple of hours to make sure we got to the front! Sissi has it right - stand up and groove to the music!  tongue

Rick - did Pete find you any Tibetan Cod?  wink

Ian

...Ian, dont let Ol` Pickled Egg fool you... ( thats Rick`s new nick name by the way! ) that big baby can groove alright... as you all will see when some video appears on the `tube... but to be fair we were getting cooked up front and some of us just gave up and had to retreat for water or beer in Rick`s case.. Ol Pickled Egg could out drink Moby D*ck by the way!... the wait between Joe and Jeff was a killer.. maybe some tech` issue was at play but its a shame... we moved out back, were about 3 from the front, and propped up some concrete with a cool one in hand for Jeff so no vid`

..Jimmy B` was excellent..Rick and I got the CD and will be playing it a lot without doubt!... Joe B` put out a stonkin condensed set, about ten songs and an unscheduled encore... well i think it was unscheduled but the crowd was persistent enough to bring Joe out for one extra! Joe was.... well... Joe!.. probably the reason Rick`s knee`s started to cry i`d guess.. Patrick Swayze would have been proud!

...Jeff B`...well i have seen Jeff  a goood few times over the years and what can i say... it was the best one yet and people should get out and check this current line up out.. a bit of Nessun Dorma to cap it all off was just sublime... a fabulous atmosphere despite the heat and one hell of a gig as a whole!...this experience was hightened further by being amongst some really lovely people... thank you all so much!

Re: Joe and Jeff in Bonn, July 19

Just arrived home from a more than nice weekend!
Very nice to meet you all at the Rheingarten!
The Bonn gig was super!!!! Did anyone mention that  after Joe finished the "changing stage" pauze-music allready had started (!) and that because of the "we-want-more-shouting-crowd" they had to stop that music and Joe had to come back on stage? I've never seen that before! Normally as the dj takes over, it really means end of show!
I really didn't know what to expect of Jeff Beck, first time, only heard stories about him. Amazing show!

Ian, we chair dance when seated. The only thing not moving is the booty.

Rick, I need some lessons in chair dancing and maybe Ian too. Can cou help?

I only chair danced once together with some Greek lads and mamas some time ago in Greece.
That was great fun but we weren't sitting but standing and dancing Greek style on chairs while the men throw trays.
And I'm afraid that's wrong style for the Carré, a beautiful seated venue in Amsterdam, where I'll have my first seated concert experience in November.
What a shame that we had no time to speak about chair dancing in Bonn.
Maybe it's not that bad at all, I can still feel my feet and my back hurts too.
And when I saw the crowd at the entrance when I arrived with Bibi, my only thought was: Scheisse. No chance to get a good place front row. Would have been nice to know that a seat was waiting.

Finally we made it to the front, cause we decided not to line up at the shadow lane (hundreds of people) but at the sun lane (maybe 50-100 people) and not to waste time to buy a drink before the show and that was real hard cause of the heat.
After Joe's gig I gave up my front row place to buy some drinks for Brenda and me and couldn't believe it but I really went back to the front.

We lost you and the others in the crowd and couldn't say good bye.
It was nice meeting you Rick and Helen and I wish you a good trip home.
By the way, wasn't it you bringing the big heat to Europe? Please, take it back.

Re: Joe and Jeff in Bonn, July 19

Hey Blues Sissi, we sure had some fun! That Greek style chair dance sounds like fun too. We missed it last year in Athens and Crete. Here's how our style works. Start practicing by standing. Bend your knees real deep, stick the booty out real far, now work the arms and legs while head banging in time to the music. Once you have that down, just sit in a chair and repeat. The booty won't shake as much but the rest will.  lol (just be careful not to whack the people sitting next to you by getting too energetic.  wink )
I drank 2 waters and 6 beers during the show and it all came out my pores. Hardly got a buzz on.  hmm  All those bodies packed in just caused the heat to intensify! I'll try to take the heat back. San Diego can use it at the beach. It is still cloudy and cool there.
That queue after the show in the parking garage was so stupid! Two machines to service hundreds of  cars. Be glad you had a bike. We didn't get back to the hotel 'till after 11:30 and all the restaurants were closed. We had to beg a cook to feed us in a pub that was ready to close. He wasn't happy but the food was great and we left a huge tip. We'll be back again. That was some kind of great time with all of you. We may be old but we still have some moves! Next time I'll give you a personal lesson in chair dancing. You can sit in my lap! tongue  lol

Re: Joe and Jeff in Bonn, July 19

Sissy and I were looking for a I^JB shirt in Gent. We both wanted it. No merchandise  sad
It would have been THE ultimate shirt to wear in Bonn of course!!!!
In Bonn there was a merchandise stand, but not with that particular shirt (or was it sold out and had everybody put it away in their handbags?)......

+1 Pete. Even tho you don't get it, others do. And vid #1 was brilliant. Young Man's Blues is such a great opener, and the opening back zoom from my shirt is  cool . You sure have the artist's eye. And YES! I was smiling a lot, and still can't wipe that S**t Eating Grin off my face thinking about one of the high points of any man's life.

The party at the Biergarten on the Rhine Sunday evening followed by the midnight guided tour of deserted old Bonn. Then the unveiling of the Bonaburst in our room with Suzanne's smuggled amp cranking and us wondering when hotel security would burst in at 1:30 am.  lol The  touring of old Bonn the next day where we all kept bumping into one another. The pre show party at the Biergarten with a big group of Bonamaniacs meeting and getting primed for one unreal show!

Every minute, every mile , every cent.... the road trip of our dreams. Such friends and such music. WOW!
Whoda thunk when I first logged on to this forum just 9 months ago it would have lead to this...and more to come!
Still grinning with memories and hopes of times to come and more  forum friends to meet.  big_smile

I've sure got it bad.
Life is so good right now. Pinch Me!
