I booked a table for 20 persons in the Rheingarten Biergarten.
Reserveration is made on Bonamassa forum.
If the weather isn't good we can also go in inside.

Countdown - only one week  lol

Re: Joe and Jeff in Bonn, July 19

A quick report, exhaustion has set in and it is almost 1 am.
Three JB's and it was all good. Jimmy Bowskill was quite good for an appetizer. A very creditable performance. Joe came on and layed down a remarkable set, a short one since it was sandwiched but stonking for sure. Gems like opening with Young  Man's Blues, then When The Fire Meets the Sea. I remember Django into Mountain Time! Sloe Gin, and more too. The others can fill in the rest. Joe said my license plate was Ace.  smile He played and signed Pete's guitar. The Dutch girls were amazing and we had an epic time.
Oh yeah, Jeff Beck closed with an amazing set. As good as he gets. The two did not get together on stage, but upon reflection, Joe and Jeff are apples and oranges. It will probably never happen.
Night all.

Re: Joe and Jeff in Bonn, July 19

It's been fun reading the build up for this show. Nothing beats a gathering of forum friends for a show. There's a special energy. Thanks for the quick revue, Rick. It sounds like a shock and awe strike by Joe.  big_smile  I agree...apples and oranges !

I miss tuna when I go to Amsterdam. I understand. Only albacore too. It's one of my food groups.

Re: Joe and Jeff in Bonn, July 19

One observation. This was the first time I had experienced an European standing event. They suck. Stifling heat and crowding led to a final retreat from our front row area before Jeff Beck came on, not to mention how my back and feet felt after standing for 3 hours. I want my seat to have a number and I want it to be mine for the whole show. If it is expensive, so be it.

Re: Joe and Jeff in Bonn, July 19

Meeting so many people from the forum was great. It was a great time in the Rheingarten.
And then, the gig. The 3 J's were amazing. Bonn was a BLAST.  lol  lol  lol
And Rick, I still feel my back and my feet but I love standing locations. They are so wonderful to groove.
A review will follow this week, have to work now.

How can you guys sit still at a Joe Bonamassa concert? Even though we had front row seats at our last Joe show, both Mrs Icon and myself felt totally constrained. The only advantage was not having to stand in line for a couple of hours to make sure we got to the front! Sissi has it right - stand up and groove to the music!  tongue

Rick - did Pete find you any Tibetan Cod?  wink

Re: Joe and Jeff in Bonn, July 19

Tibetan Cod was nonexistent in Bonn. Ian, we chair dance when seated. The only thing not moving is the booty. Even the Gaggle of Gals bailed out from the front when Jeff started playing. Too loud and too hot. Jeff delayed his start for almost an hour after Joe finished.
When the crowd demanded an encore from Joe, he seemed almost embarrassed. No such demonstration for Jeff.   tongue Applause but no group chant of: "ZU GA BA! ZU GA BA!" Joe laid down a killer set and took no prisoners. I think it was clear he and the band were the bad boys that night.  Resplendent in a velvet maroon suit with black shirt, I don't know how he handled the heat. We were overjoyed to see Carmine back in form with no eye patch and standing for the set. (Sweet red sneakers too!) I had forgotten my pen so the set list will have to come from Warren. I'll just say that the only song missing for me to have made heaven was Stop.
Pete presented me with the special award at the meet and Joe signed it. I am the sole possessor of a signature Bonacarbon tee.  smile Eat your heart out Jane.  big_smile Suzanne got it all on video.
Well, here we are basking in the glow of our latest road trip, one for the record books. Off to home tomorrow with fond memories of faces with names from the attending Euro contingent. Our hearts sing, we all partied like pros. You people are the BEST!
Hertzliche Danken!
