Topic: Peavey Classic 50

I have a C50 head........older tweed style, that i run thru a 4/12.........i like the tone straight in ( gain dimed ) but i can't run anything in front.....too much noise..even an Eq used as a volume boost is noisy......anyone have suggestions ?

Re: Peavey Classic 50

Maybe new Tubes and a good Cleaning? Have the Jacks all cleaned with Electronic Parts Cleaner.

Try also just replacing the first Preamp Tube. Sometimes they can OD whole Amp too much, when they're going out.

But if your Tubes are all old, that and a good "Tune Up" at a Tech's would probably be what is the best bet.
