Topic: Hamilton Loomis

Was listening to Bluesville 74 on my recently-installed Sirius satellite radio (thanks, Kendi!) and ran across this guy a couple of times....I see Curby made a minor mention of him but I was sort of knocked out by what I heard....I'm going to guess you Texans may have seen him.

Here's a live video of the song that impressed me, and it may have been recorded at the same gig as I think it was stated to be on a recently-released "Live" CD:

Lovin' the funk and the Cissy Strut segue.....BJJ, take note!  I'm hoping I can find the time to catch his set at the Western Maryland Blues Festival in June before I have to go host an open mic up the road....

Re: Hamilton Loomis

I've seen Hamilton live at least twice, maybe three times. Also have his last two studio albums "Ain't Just Temporary" and "Kickin' It". I think he's great! His music definitely leans to the funky side - which is certainly okay by me! He usually plays a Les Paul and, quite well, I might add. He was very close to Bo Diddley, who I believe was a mentor. The last time we saw him he played tribute to Bo by playing a medley of Bo's songs using one of Bo's guitars - the square one. Best words to describe his shows are "fun" and "hi-energy". I should dig up a photo I have of him jumping off the top of a PA stack, over a fence, and into the crowd at the Bayfront Blues Fest in Duluth the first time we saw him.
