Me having a bash on the drums, a fair while ago... not my best drumming LOL

all the best,

Hey Stefan, not bad for a guitarist.
Most non-drummers make the mistake of trying to be too loud.
I first started out playing with brushes - i grant you, not as much fun, but it teaches you discipline.

Thanks Brack!!

Yeah I agree... I spend a lot of time practice rudiments on the snare drum, but I must admit I hit like a truck....

Oh well we all have our flaws lol tongue

All the best,

- Stefan

Re: Drummers Corner

It did seem to get a bit more "bashy", the further along you went, Stefan.  But I agree with Brack, not bad for a guitarist.  wink

(At a Tab Benoit show not long ago, he took a brief stint on the drum kit.  He's pretty decent...for a guitarist.  But then he claims drums were his first love.)

In keeping with the theme of the thread, here's a short recording of Tab on drums.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

wow, great link Brack.

fascinating mix of acoustic with electronic, - which urinates on the argument from a lot of drum snobs resistant to progress.

Like his drumming style. I don't know where they found this guy, but I'm glad they did.

amazing, thanks Cat. Dave is one of the premier jazz drummers in the world today, plays a lot with Mike Stern but is highly sought after by others. Not easy stuff to replicate, think Vinny C as a comparison in style. the kid has a bright future to say the least.

Re: Drummers Corner

Hey drummers and drum fans. I've heard a couple of albums in the last week that blew my mind drum-wise.

The first was Philip Sayce's new album, Steamroller - Chris Powell's performance is very heavy, and very sophisticated. He definitely elevates the record in a fantastic way.

The second is Wilson T. King's new record, The Last of the Analogues. Wayne Procter (currently touring with Oli Brown) is the drummer here, and his is another brilliant performance.

Both albums are excellent, and the drumming superb smile
