I don't often make separate threads about individual Machine shows, but this is a special one and I know we have a good many forum members in the right area for it.  This is a rare chance for Pink Floyd fans in this area to catch The Machine unplugged... they don't do it often, and when they do it's usually in NYC or somewhere in New England (with the exception of Annapolis last June).  Acoustic shows are a real treat... they're much smaller and more intimate than a normal show, and it's a new twist on the Floyd classics, plus there's always some rare Syd Barrett material, which is beautiful stuff.

Rams Head On Stage is the perfect venue for such a show... nice and intimate, with reserved dinner table seating.  Right now there are still good seats left.  I know it's at an odd time of day... 1:00 in the afternoon, lol... but it is all-ages this time, and it leaves your evening free.  (That's normally a 21+ venue and I know some minors who got shut out last time.)  I will be there of course, so if anybody is going, let me know and we can plan to meet up.

My taper friend Keith captured last year's unplugged show at Rams Head, if anyone would like to check it out... it's pretty sweet... enjoy...

Hi Vik, that unplugged stuff is pretty cool. Especially liked Echoes.  Wouldn't mind hearing a song or two done acoustically during one of their regular shows, but I guess they like to make it a special night. We're still counting down the days till The Machine hits here on 5-22, but before that show we have Walter Trout 4-18, and just today I got  8 tickets first row balcony for Get The Led Out 4-23 here in Pittsburgh. Also, coming here in June is Yes & Peter Frampton playing together. I know Yes is different without Anderson, but they've always been one of my favorite bands. I just figure I'm getting to see Howe & Squire playing Yes songs.
      For anyone who hasn't seen GTLO, here's a clip of them doing Dazed and Confused.

So, none of our regulars are going to be there?  Well at least I'll have my son with me to keep me company.  Finally, an acoustic show he can attend... in the right area AND all-age (he's 19) AND he's free for it (he originally thought he had to start a new job that day, of all days)... so he's looking forward to this one, moreso than the average Machine show.  Well me too.  smile

What a great way to celebrate the first day of spring!  Not only that, it just so happens that this year the equinox (when the sun is vertical above the equator) will take place at 1:32pm EST, while the guys are on stage!  Just seems appropriate for the occassion somehow.  I've suggested that it would be a great time for something "springy" like The Gnome, or A Pillow of Winds, or Coming Back To Life, or Signs of Life/Learning To Fly, or San Tropez, or even Fat Old Sun or Green Is the Colour.  They ALL sound good to me!  big_smile

Glad you enjoyed the unplugged recording from last year, Bill.  Did anyone else check it out?  Here's the link again... it's a great recording...

Just a little reminder to the true Floyd fans in the Annapolis vicinity... don't miss this special acoustic Machine show at 1:00pm today.  It's a rare opportunity, and it's a pretty sweet show... you'll be glad you went, trust me.  And what a great way to celebrate the first day of spring... can't wait!  big_smile

I really meant to post something more about this unplugged show, sorry for my delay. Being a matinee, it was a shorter show than usual, but they made the best use of the time they had, skipping the fake ending & encore routine (like they do on the Rocks Off cruises). The whole show was just beautiful. The highlight for me had to be Dogs... the acoustic arrangement with Jon's sax was amazing. Another high point for me was Julia Dream, it being a first for me (although in searching I see they have played it before at an A-Z show, and maybe other times in the past I'm not aware of). And we got some other great rare ones like Wot's..., Bike, and If. But even the not-so-rare songs got fresh treatments for this show, so everything was a real treat. Money was pretty special, and that's the one that got the biggest reaction from the crowd. And Two Suns In the Sunset was another favorite of mine. Jon's work on the saxophones was beautiful and really adds something to this music... I've told the guys they should make him a permanant member of the band. Don't know if that'll happen, but I do know he'll be there for the next acoustic show on Long Island on Apr 17th.  wink

As I said in the other thread, my son really enjoyed this acoustic show... so glad it was all-ages this time and he could make it. I just now asked him what his favorite thing about the show was, off the top of his head... he said the sax, the way it added to the songs, and also the way Scott harmonized with the sax with his little keyboard thingy he blows into (ha, I always forget what that instrument is called, but it's the one he uses for Outside the Wall, you know what I mean). His favorite songs were Dogs and Money.

I wish there were a recording of this show, as the magic of an acoustic show is hard to explain. Let me just say, everyone should make it a point to get themselves to an unplugged show, if the rare chance arises for you.  wink

PS:  The Machine will be coming back to the area soon for a normal electric show with the full multimedia light show... Rams Head Live in Baltimore, May 21st, mark the date... tickets just went on sale yesterday... see you there!  wink
