Re: Oli Brown - new album details

What a great night of live music. First the Billy Walton Band, who were fantastic and then one of my favourite bands to follow.
Here is a video of Helping Hand, written by one of Oli's biggest influences, Chris Cain. It's always one of my favourites when everyone gets to do their thang. This time Roger Inniss was playing with Oli and Simon....he certainly gets around  lol

and here is Played By The Devil....one of my favourites from the Open Road cd

It was a nice little Bonabuddy meet up too.

Re: Oli Brown - new album details

I may not have received Black Rock yet, but I did receive 'Heads I Win Tails You Lose' this morning. Not bad as I only ordered it on Thursday evening. Thanks Graham.  wink

My first impressions are that this second album by Oli is a big step up from Open Road with a more mature bluesy sound. The tone Oli teases from his Vanquish is gorgeous and any slightly rough edges that may have been apparent on the first album have been refined without losing the immediacy of the blues. His voice has improved and it's stronger too. The production is everything you'd expect from Mike Vernon, superb without being overblown. It's a big compliment to Oli and must have been a real honour for Mike Vernon to have come out of retirement to produce this CD.

Reading Oli's "thank yous" in the CD booklet I nearly choked on my tea when I read "Tripsy".  Well done, Tripsy!  cool
I think you must be Oli's biggest fan outside his immediate family. big_smile

Pete - I couldn't agree more. If there's a track on the album that has mainstream crossover appeal it's "Speechless".
I really believe it could catapult Oli into much bigger things.

And there's a ready made video!  cool

Brilliant job with the editing my man!

Oli - if you're reading this, congratulations on a fine album!

Re: Oli Brown - new album details

On 30 April I'll dance into the May with Oli Brown in the "Tholi" in Rheine.  big_smile
It's about 150 km away and I hope I'll arrive in time and won't miss a second of the gig. No traffic jams, please.
I'm very curious to see him live and I'll buy his latest cd at the gig, that's for sure.

I haven't heard the full album yet but what a great track you put up there Pete.

Like the video too - you caught a few Bonabuddies on that as well as Oli  smile

Re: Oli Brown - new album details

Great song - Looking forward to the new album a lot now

Re: Oli Brown - new album details

I'm absolutely loving Oli's new album  smile
Been listening to it for a few days and it makes me feel so good!  Mike Vernon has done a great job....I'm so glad he was tempted out of retirement. He has really brought the best out in Oli.
The mixture of blues and funky grooves are right up my street....it's so hard to sit still to songs like Keeping My Options Open, Fever,Real Good Time and No Diggity.

Pete...I have to agree with you. Speechless is definitely one of the best tracks on the cd. When I first heard it at Liverpool last October it was called What Can I Do? I thought then what a great hook and riff it had but it sounds even better now it has been polished up.

It's really good to finally have Love's Gone Cold on cd too. It was around October 2008 when Oli first played it and it has always been one of my fave songs in the set.

I was a little disappointed that Snakebit didn't make an appearance ...maybe next time.

I can't tell you how chuffed I was when I saw my name in the credits along with Sarah and Duncan.  cool  I never expected that! Supporting Oli has been and always will be a huge pleasure in my life. Thanks Oli for being so appreciative and friendly to your adoring fans especially the older ladies! lol

Here are some of the songs on this new cd which I have shot.

Re: Oli Brown - new album details

From what i've heard, this sounds really good, Oli is a definite force to be reckoned with, so much talent already and producing electric live shows with releasing 2 cracking albums, liked that "Speechless" video from Pete alot, nicely shot too plus spot the buddy's  big_smile  ... Nice touch from Oli mentioning Christine & Duncan...Cool
