Re: Clapton recommendations

A nice compilation about early Eric is the 1988 box "Crossroads" with 4 CDs. I don´t know if it´s still available - I didn´t find it at amazon.

Re: Clapton recommendations

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned the early British blues days with John Mayall. You can hear how Joe stepped up Steppin' Out.(The Beano album)

Since everything's been mentioned...Clapton had some albums that weren't popular on the radio and ones that you kinda' pick out tunes you favor.  An example would be "Behind the Sun", "Money and Cigarettes...  Like Joe said on his sirius radio show...blues mixed in with the pop in reference to Same Old Blues. You can listen here. http://www.lala.com/#album/360569445171015212
Also, there are some Clapton songs I'd like see re-done w/o that Phil Collins-esque or drum machine sound, if you know what I mean...not dissing Collins talent, just saying...  wink

This is Eric celebrating Mayall's 70th birthday.

And since this is from the Blind Faith era, anyone interested in winning a signed Steve Winwood srat guitar, you can submit your version of "Can't Find My Way Home".  I believe Stevie is critiquing them himself.  I think you have to join Winwood's new fan club ($49) to submit, (don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger) there are only 20 entries right now which are all viewable w/o joining, the competition ends in 2 months.  http://www.stevewinwood.com/contests

Clapton and Winwood are up for 2 Grammys tonight.  Good Luck to Eric & Steve! I think its very cool how they got back together after all these years, from a historically music point of view!  http://www.stevewinwood.com/
