whoops, didn't realize already free came out this year, thought it was last.
2. derek trucks band-already free
nothing else really stood out to me (haven't yet heard new black crowes or mule, hopefully gettin em for christmas). I liked the new joe album, but after hearing it and seeing him live a few times I can't rate it high since it helps solidify his complete move away from why i liked him in the first place (not trying to bring that argument up again or anything, so anyone wanting to disagree with me read my old posts and i'm sure youll find a response somewhere in there). i was incredibly hopeful for but very let down by the new alice in chains album. didn't realize wes jeans put out a live album, ill definitely have to check that out. no doubt thatd of made my list. haven't heard anything from him i haven't loved
forgot about petty as well. haven't even heard that yet but god i need to. been so busy. liked vultures but it didn't blow me away. may well be in the top five but not all that good. i'm sure there are many worthy albums i have missed.
ps ... i would've put ... "Lemon Tarte Live in Paris", but there'll be more of that in 2010

Another album of the year 2009 which isn´t a regular album, but a download (thanks to Eva):
Govt´l Mule: Live in Munich 11.11.09
The more I listen to it the better it sounds. Even if I wouldn´t have been there - it´s Mule at their best. A "best of" including songs from the new album and as bonus wonderful covers: Pink Floyds´s "One of these days", Ray Charles´s "I believe", Peter Green´s "Need your love so bad" and "It hurts me too".

Already Free - Derek Trucks Band - the greatest slide guitarist going is starting to get it together and create good studio music.
Live From Madison Square Garden - Clapton & Winwood - anybody who thinks Clapton is washed up, listen to Double Trouble and Voodoo Child.
Before The Frost - The Black Crowes - really cool album by the Crowes. Really organic sounding and rocking, but at the same time, a little quirky too. Dig it.
The Beatles remasters - come on, this was the biggest release of the year. 40 years later and they're still the biggest band in the world. Beyonce, eat your heart out.

i absolutly agree with you günter. hearing one of these days in the morning on my way to work with warrens slide guitar is better like a second breakfast and brings me back on cloud mule again. not only one of the best cds. for me very best concert of the year.

I've just recently gotten into them in the last couple of years, but didn't add any to my collection until recently because I was waiting for the remasters I kept hearing about. They sound very clear and well-done. Some of this stuff you can't believe was recorded in the 1960s. Very cool.
