Topic: BAFFLED 2

Ok so we got the baffles sorted out and they do make a big difference , not only do they help contain the sound on stage but I find they accentuate the mids as well ! Last night at rehearsal I hung a mic over the V of the baffle which seemed to pick up the sound differently than micing the side of the speaker anyone got an opinion on this or is micing the side of the speaker the way to go ??         thanks Derek

Re: BAFFLED 2

Depends on the mic. I once recorded with an SM58, sounded awful placed right nex to the speaker. But with a little distance between the cab and the mic it sounded pretty good. (this was a totally thrown together recording, clearly...as we used the wrong mics lol )
I think it just all depends on what you want soundwise, if you feel you're getting a good sound with the space between the cab and the speaker then so be it.

Re: BAFFLED 2

yeah thats the problem, Im not totally convinced, while it gave me a nice middy honky sound that really cut through the mix but I had lost a lot of the girth and bass that the jubilee gives so maybe another mic is needed !! Ill have to experiment
does the search for TONE ever end lol
