Topic: Whiskey Dicks 11/17/06 Columbus Ohio

The 1st time I've ever seen Joe live. Un-Fucking-Believable! I got turned on to him from this dude at work and "A New Day Yesterday Live" just blew me away. I bought the DVD at the Columbus show and it isn't that impressive. Bad edititing and the camera jumps from around too much to really be able to watch and enjoy him. Still worth the $20 but don't get your hopes up. Looks like the editor got his start in low budget porn.

The ANDY dvd is fantastic! Dont let that post fool you. I took that dvd into my local guitar shop and darn near everyone in the building was watching the video!

I'd agree it's not big budget, but what do you expect? Joe IS an artist! Musically,a musician's musician...The purpose was to get the person down for posterity, playing the heck outta the guitar...Porn gets the thing you watch it for captured, not a bunch of pretty fluffy effects for effects sake (something far too many still great without them movies do)

Don't get upset kids, didn't mean to offend you. I was just saying that instead of flipping back and forth every two seconds, from different angles, it would have been nice to actually watch Joe play. I have no clue what "Andy" DVD you're talking about either. A New Day Yesterday rocks, there is no denying that....nor would I expect anyone to want to.

Re: Whiskey Dicks 11/17/06 Columbus Ohio

Also after the show, Joe hung out and signed autographs for everyone who approched him, he is truely a class act.

Re: Whiskey Dicks 11/17/06 Columbus Ohio

ANDY is an abbreviation for A New Day Yesterday. SILT So Its Like That. BD Blues Deluxe. HTCT Had To Cry Today. Y&M You & Me. Just to clear things up. Anything to help out a fellow Buckeye, I presume.

Re: Whiskey Dicks 11/17/06 Columbus Ohio

Sorry JW, I defend anything and eerything about Joe at the drop of a hat---old hockey player ways! I see the question of WHICH DVD you were referring to is THE question.  I did mean to suggest picking up the Rockpalast DVD (Germany), but I may have accidently backspaced it away when editing my spelling errors out of my response post or plain forgot...There were some complaints about about both-from the dancing neo-lesbians of ANDY Live to the quirky artsy-fartsy zipping around of the Rockpalast. I personally like them both and highly suggest they be played on the best possible audio you can...I often listen to either with the video off (the ANDY DVD has an "encore" of  Are You Experienced , which is where where the dancers goof, and Had To Cry Today). The Rockpalast sonically is beyond belief superb!!!  My system is all old school too .

Re: Whiskey Dicks 11/17/06 Columbus Ohio

My apologies as well...I guess I came off sounding a bit degrading.

The man definately rocked the house. During the encore he broke into this Zeppelin solo from "The song Remains the Same" video. Communication Breakdown only without the bow! But it sounded incredible. I don't know how he does it, I can only pray that someday I can play half as good as him, and that probably won't happen in this lifetime!

Complaints about the Dancing Neo-Lesbians.   You are kidding I hope.  I love dancing neo-lesbians.  I hope there are some in the next DVD.

Re: Whiskey Dicks 11/17/06 Columbus Ohio

The Rockpalast DVD is much more kid-friendly, and Joe has plenty of fans under 18... under 15 ...under 10 ... even under 5;  some of ANDY Live's content is not aligned with Joe's young fans, nor with his concept of bringing the blues to young people.

Re: Whiskey Dicks 11/17/06 Columbus Ohio

Yeah I found the term "neo-lesbians kind of odd". As apposed to old lesbians.

Both DVD recordings in my opinion are fantastic.

In fact the first CD/DVD I bought was ANDY live.

I will have to watch again but I don't recall to much in the ANDY DVD that would be R rated.  I know in the end someone tells Joe sittin in the limo that he isn't going anywhere with an F--- up name like that. Something along those  lines.

Re: Whiskey Dicks 11/17/06 Columbus Ohio

Poor Joe will never live that down: the ANDY live DVD. big_smile Hey, about Joe's name; why don't we shorten it up a little like some musicians have. How 'bout Joe Bones? It's kind of catchy.

Blues ain't nothin' but a good woman gone bad.

Re: Whiskey Dicks 11/17/06 Columbus Ohio

I think a better term might be "quasi-lesbians", or...more likely "pseudo-lesbians".  Either way, the music part rocks and although I find the dancers are a bit of a distraction, I don't think they're quite adult enough to scare parents away, maybe just fast forward through the "naughty" bits.

Keep on rockin' the blues...

To quote Joe. It sounded like a good idea at the time. It is still not anymore R rated than most network television shows. I think the ANDY video was responsible for much of Joe's early success. It got me to go check out Joe for the first time. I'm glad someone had the idea to do the video whether there are dancing girls in it or not.

Yea you're right....I realized it the other day that it is Dazed n Confused with the solo. I just had too many tunes goin on inside my head that day to differentiate between the two!

hey SRV-Rocks, did you know there is a hidden track with 'dancers" on the ANDY live dvd?
from a dvd remote control, hit chapter 6 or maybe its 5

No did not know that.

I don't think the dancers on the DVD took away from anything but I admit they didn't add much either, they were such a small part of the production and they didnt do anything to risky. The playing of course is really good.

My recomendation is buy all the DVD's that Joe  has.  They are and will be good.

Re: Whiskey Dicks 11/17/06 Columbus Ohio

Joe's opening onstage line is "...I feel F******g great! Other than a coupla swear words your kids know and some "suggestiveness" in the VERY short dancing bits (kinda like the food fight scene in Animal House, 1 second long actually but described like it was bigger than a 3 Stooges pie fight
