The look of love is in your eyes, Rick
No matter how bad our season is, we won't let you down.
GM McKenzie already has a thumbs down from me this season. He ruined our great offense. Makes no sense to me how the defense was the number 1 problem and you retool the offense. If McKenzie doesn't retool the defense next year, he needs to go. So much for having a Defensive Coach
If a veteran coach is available, they should grab him up.
They'll have a real good look at one today RiverCat. By all accounts, this is his last game as a Charger. Big retooling is going to be on the agenda here too. 25 players are free agents next year and we need an O line. Our GM AJ Smith is also to blame for the Boltz bad performance and he may go as well. There was a nice article about our ex Aztec who made the starting team up there at weakside LB as a rookie. Good luck today and thanks for the gift of a televised home game. Even if it is the Raiders, in our worst years, we love a chance to thump them.

Well, I guess Norv won't be coming back too soon to the Raiders.
This was our Head Coach's Dennis Allen's best defensive move of the whole season
Get rid of the OC Knapp.
"Knapp
was hired by Allen specifically to implement an offense with a zone blocking scheme and a moving pocket, tearing apart an offense that had been relatively successful under Jackson, who was the offensive coordinator in 2010 and the head coach in 2011.
Because of the Raiders' prior success and that running back Darren McFadden had flourished once Jackson cut back on zone scheme plays in favor of gap and power blocking runs, Knapp's selection was unpopular among much of the fan base.
It got even more unpopular as the Raiders struggled to run the ball and score points. After generating the most rushing yards in the NFL in 2010 and 2011, they dropped to 28th in 2012 at 88.8 yards per game with only four rushing touchdowns."
Gregg Knapp is a very nice guy, and another team will soon pick him up. But when you drastically change what was working best, and it's not conducive to the players you have, it will be very hard to have success. There just was no reason for it. You make this kind of move to an offense that is having problems. That needs growth. Bottom line, McKenzie made the wrong move and set the team back.
Another good call was getting rid of our Special Teams Coach. I don't think cleaning house last season was the right answer, cause now the Raiders have to clean house the next year after.
2013 is the time they can start to rebuild again. Even though this isn't a great draft, this is a defensive heavy draft at the top. Can't say too much yet, except KC Chiefs have the #1 pick.
It will be interesting to see what they do. They don't really need defensive players, but if they did pick one of them up it could really just bolster what they already have.
Raiders will just have to see who drops. I was hoping I could be talking playoffs instead of the draft.
But oh well as long as they can make some good draft picks, hopefully they will be ones that can stay with the team for a while and make a great contribution. We need some long-term players, that would be a good improvement.
Congrats to all the teams that made the Playoffs. Let the Party begin. It's sad, Houston has been my 2nd pick for a while and we had Houston coaches that didn't work out for us. I always liked Wade Phillips so Houston is my pick for the SuperBowl.
