Topic: Cool Modal Jam
I picked this up from a fellow Instructor the other day, and thought some of you may enjoy it. I know I am having fun with it!
Just use the root note of the mode as the bass, and triads of the IV and V of the relative major key on top. So the bass note is always the same for both chords. Then, the rest of the chords are made up from the IV and V of the relative major key.
For example in A Dorian you would play: 5x555x and 5x777x
( C/A and D/A = G major)
For A Phrygian you would play: 5x333x and 5x555x
( F major)
For A Lydian you would play: 5x222x and 5x444x
( E major)
etc.
Let me know, if you try it out.
