Topic: How good is Johnny Hiland?!

How many of you out there in music land listen to Johnny Hiland?    He's a beautiful guitar player and considering he's legally blind he's doing a pretty good job at it.    Not sure if he's ever come to the UK?   Hope he does, would love to see him.

Here's a little taster..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGlyRfumNz4

Enjoy.

Oh sweet!!!    Lucky man.    Johnny has to be one of the most surprising of individuals, I've sent vids of him to people and they don't believe this "big" guy can play with such finesse.    So I bombard them more and more.

ha ha

Come on Johnny!!!!

Maybe Joe could drag him out on tour?    More people need to see him play.

Cool stuff....I've never seen Johnny but have heard great things about him, and I'm also a long-term fan of PRS Guitars (Paul's family and mine were somewhat close) so I figure if he's got a PRS Signature Model, he's got to be pretty damn good.

My favorite YouTube post of Johnny is this....appears the music is out of sync with the video so don't watch it too carefully.

That is so cool, have you been around the factory?    One of the things I'd love to do one year is tour the states and visit Gibson, Fender, Taylor, Martin, PRS etc factories.

The Hiland model PRS is really nice, I was always put off them because I read about the wide fingerboards, but Johnny has these chunky fingers and totally blasts up and down the neck.

Really want to see Hiland play live at some point.

I got a short personal tour of the Annapolis factory back in the 80's, before the company really took off and moved to larger quarters across the Chesapeake Bay in Stevensville, MD.  I really should schedule a time to go but hard to justify taking a day off.  I did sign up for the "PRS Experience" which is a two-day event featuring guest performers, seminars, etc.  Thought you had to be an industry professional or invited by one but found out this year that it is open to the public with a registry on the website.

I went through the Martin factory recently which was also very cool and highly recommended.

Wow!  Johnny is indeed the real deal and a gifted guitarist.  What album would anyone suggest getting first?  Really liked the tone.
