Re: HMV Picture House 5/12/2009

What a show..fantastic from start to finish..still buzzing. At Glasgow I was up in the balcony but this time I was on the floor. Good place to be when you are a midget as kind folks take pity, so I more or less ended up in the front row right in the middle and I wasn't moving from there..and not just cos my shoes were glued to the floor by beer...because I was yet again blown away and transfixed. I was so close I could have touched Joe..had I had the arms of Mr Tickle...but not to worry..I was well happy to get to meet Joe and the boys afterwards, such a gracious bunch. It struck me how funny it was that these guys have such a powerful persona on stage but when you meet them they are so humble and down to earth. In fact when I was showing my Mum the photos she never thought that the Joe on stage photos were of the same man stood next to me at the stage door in a later photo..'God..he's so young'...bless.
So a great night topped off by meeting old and new friends from the forum..don't worry Greenose..I still have your pic!!

Re: HMV Picture House 5/12/2009

Totally agree with most of the comments on here about the gig. Another stunner from Joe IMO, a better show than the RAH as Joe appeared far more relaxed. Too many highlights to mention but here's the set list:

Ballad Of John Henry
Last Kiss
So Many Roads
So It's Like That
If Heartaches Were Nickels
Further On Up The Road
Sloe Gin
Lonesome Road Blues
Happier Times
Bridge To Better Days
Young Man Blues
Great Flood
Woke Up Dreaming
Mountain Time
..............

Ball Peen Hammer
Just Got Paid

Sandi Thom wasn't too bad either

Re: HMV Picture House 5/12/2009

Well,it was a great weekend all round to my mind! I thought the sound was ok,but what do i know, not too loud (as if!) and a world of difference to Sandi's-but you'd expect that anyway.Highlights for me were the solo on '....Heartaches..' Mountain Time, especially the lead-in,WUD of course. Didn't make it to Bannerman's-sorry trdb!will drop you a pm with address if that's ok,time was tight from HRC (HIYA SCARAMOUCH!) to gig time .There was still a big queue when we arrived but entry was swift (ooer, missus!) lol so mrs idolbone missed a seat. A great performance by everyone on stage,Sandi did a good job on ...Flood..as joe has said it's about the best he's written so far,to let someone else do the vocal says a lot about HIS faith in HER vocal talent! Good to eventually catch up with Greenose outside in the rain, waited at stage door for about 45 mins, watched Sandi's gear then band board their bus, then the box-van for joe's gear, then bus. My sister waited with me and was rewarded with a kiss-or two!-from joe.Got ticket and tee signed, and he commented on the guitar neck on the new baseball jersey from the site-said he told them that a REAL guitar has SIX tuning knobs(?!) not three! tongue

Re: HMV Picture House 5/12/2009

Nice to meet you idolbone, if it was only a quicky (ooeerr mrs), at HRC your food looked good mate, maybe we can be a bit more organised the next time and have a good meet with a crowd, time was tight for us too and we didn't make bannermans before or after the Gig, we were right up at the barrier in front of the right hand speakers and the sound I thought was pretty Good but A-M was pretty tired after traipsing round Edinburgh all day and then standing at the Gig, long hectic day but joe made it worth it. fav track for me had to be Woke up Dreaming, he is a complete GOD on that acoustic,

Does anyone fancy the Hammersmith Gig and having a Joe forum meet somewhere in London?

I'll post this Question in the General Forum too........................

Great vids guys

Been there, done that in May! smile Where were you then?!

I would like my next non Scottish Joe gig to be somewhere in Europe, that would be pretty cool! smile

I'm sure lots of our european fans would welcome Bonaphiles from the uk! big_smile They seem a great bunch, judging by some of the testimonials from The RAH gig.
