Topic: Chicago 4/17

Joe brought the heat tonight folks! My brother and I once again left one of his concerts on a musical high lol I have to say that tonights crowd was the best i've ever been apart of at a Joe show. Standing O's literally after almost every song...and as the night went on everyone just got more pumped and rowdy, making for an awesome evening! The energy was already intense before the show started. I had a gut feeling that seeing as though it is Friday, and was a nice evening that the energy was going to be high, and boy was I right! Joe mainly played the catalog off of Different Shades of Blue, but the best song of the night for me personally was Double Trouble. I can't put the right words together this late at night to tell everyone how amazingly awesome he plays that song lol I will never get tired of the down home blues jams...my personal favorites! Other highlights for me were Oh Beautiful..he adds some Django in there which sounds killer! Also Never Give All Your Heart, and Gave Up Everything For You. The keyboardist filling in for Reese was just phenomenal! He and Joe played very well off each other.

It was also great getting to see Natasha and Phil for a little bit before the show! Great people and the definition of true Joe fans! As we were all standing outside the theatre we got to chat with Joe's manager Roy for a little while as well. I had never met him before, and he thanked me for bringing a different demographic to the audience lol He seemed like a nice guy! Also wound up sitting in front of a guy from the forum JBFan#1 Sorry I didn't get your name, but was really nice chatting with you! That marks the second time i've been recognized at one of Joe's shows from the forum. Strangely enough both people were sitting very close to me! lol I was super excited to hear the horns and they definitely added something so awesome to the sound. Lastly, I just have to say that I love that Joe ended the night with an encore song that is more upbeat. Don't get me wrong, I love Mountain Time, but I love that he ended the night with All Aboard. People were dancing and laughing, overall having a good time! Perfect way to leave the concert. Joe, thanks for the great night! Hope you and the guys enjoy the rest of your stay in Chicagoland smile

Re: Chicago 4/17

Great time last night and Joe was so pumped and just wailing on every song. We were front row of the balcony. Different vibe up there than on the floor. Could see people down below standing and whooping and hollering. A little more sedate where we were except for a drunk guy right behind us kept talking really loudly everytime Joe got real quiet. I love when people are into it and roar their approval but the "oh yeah a Strat. Love the f@cking tone of the strat" "yeah, play it Joe" when he is being super quiet just makes me a bit crazy. I was like, dude I can't hear the freakin strat because you keep talking! Finally couldn't help myself and turned around and told him that no one wants to hear him talking. Of course that just got him muttering more, lol. Oh well what can you do. So don't be surprised when you hear it all in the videos, lol.
I'm really loving this setlist Joe is doing and this big horn band. Such a great variety of songs. The standout ones for me are definitely "Yonders Wall", "Love Ain't A Love Song", "John Henry" and "All Aboard" the soloing is fantastic and last night especially you could tell how pumped up Joe was. The John Henry was just like POW! when he came out of the quiet part of the solo. And you could tell Joe was enjoying himself, feeding off the rowdy crowd, cranking it higher each time. Fantastic!
We had a great time with Erin and her brother before the show. So much fun to hang out with people who are just as excited as we are. Makes you even more psyched for the show. So nice of them to treat us to dinner. Totally was not expecting that and just shows what wonderful people they are. Thanks Erin smile You guys will have to come to our area some day and we can treat you, or maybe the next time we are at the Baked Potato together. Fun time hanging with Roy before the show. Love Roy, he always cracks me up. And nice to run into Paulie Cerra(the saxophonist) and his girlfiend too. Such nice people. Fantastic time all around on this trip to Chicago. Can't think of any way it could have been better than it was. So thankful for everything and once again so happy to be a part of this Joe world. Videos will be uploaded once we get home later tonight. So stay tuned wink

Re: Chicago 4/17

Can't wait to see the horn section....Sounds like Joe is tearin' it up just like the Muddy Wolf dvd...sweet...Just 3 weeks until the Portland/Eugene shows

Re: Chicago 4/17

Natasha is right about the balcony vibe. On Thursday i was in the balcony and left the show feeling pretty pumped up. But being in the 7th row on Friday night was way better; but when isn't it better being down in front? (I almost ejected out of my seat a couple of times.) Plus it seemed the crowd was a little more into it on Friday. As Erin and Natasha reported, Joe and the band tore it up! Missed Lenny but the fill-in keyboard guy was awesome. Joe seemed to be loving it, too, and even tossed his slide into the audience. There was a collective gasp from the crowd over that! lol A GREAT SHOW, INDEED!!! Looking forward to Wednesday in Milwaukee and being in the front row. (Can't wait to see the look on the hubs' face when Joe stands right in front of him with the slide.)
