I was at a fishing club meeting Thurs. at the restaurant we use that's right on the bay and walked out for some air. There was a couple by the firepit with a camera taking snaps of the glittering reflection of the full moon on the bay with the city lights in the background in the mid 70 degree evening. Just stunning. Anyway, I walked over and offered to snap them both together and asked where they were from. Rochester! I laughed and said it was like this here all Winter and they rolled their eyes and said they had come just to escape what you folks have had. Hope it ends soon for you.

Re: How's the Weather Where You Are?

Unless one was in the NW of Scotland for the last couple of days you'll have had a fantastic weekend in the UK. Both days had glorious sunshine in London and SE of England, where I live. Temps around 16c or 61F and lunch in the garden both days followed by a nice nap in the sun. I've a ruddy complexion today. :emb lol

Thank goodness for the jetstream that mostly keeps the cold away from the UK. I feel so sorry for you guys in the States who have been suffering ridiculous amounts of snow for many months. I hope it stops soon and the ground can cope with the snowmelt.

Wanna see some snow?  This video is from our local "snow dump".  I drove past it today (not my video or drone) and it is huge.

I just saw a couple of near ripe tomatoes on the vines from last year in the back yard that never died. Also a bunch of green ones. Fried green tomatoes!

"Boston breaks seasonal snowfall record with 108.6 inches."

Congrats to all the Boston area Bonabuddies on surviving this record breaking winter.  It was a long, cold Northeast / Great Lakes winter indeed!!

(Hopefully this record won't be broken before little Gibson is well on in his senior years ... out touring with Uncle Joe's '59's.)

Low 70's in the Chicagoland area today.
I know better than to get used to it...I'll enjoy it while it's here but expect a change for the worse shortly.

Re: How's the Weather Where You Are?

We just had worse.  45cm of snow, about 17.5 inches.  High winds, snow drifts close to 3 meters, at least 8 feet high in places.  It took me almost 3 hours and a full tank of fuel in my snow blower to clean my driveway.  That on top of the piles we already had.

Sympathy anyone?

You have my sympathies - we were running out of room as well.  At least we broke our record in Boston.  Fortunately I missed the record breaker, though - I am in lovely sunny Florida where it has been 80 plus degrees everyday.

Re: How's the Weather Where You Are?

Got a bit dim here in N.East England at about 09:15 - 09:45 this morning; thought we were in for a heavy shower. Turned out to be the partial eclipse. Not quite the eerie, twilight the news media were leading us to believe. Oh well, better luck in 2026. The next full one over the UK should be 2090 but I think I might give that one a miss.

Re: How's the Weather Where You Are?

Well, March went out "like a lion" here yesterday - 70mph wind gusts and blizzard-like snow showers. None of this "thunder-snow" we've been hearing a lot about this winter. I'm beginning to think our weather forecasts are done by the same writers of "Power Rangers".

Re: How's the Weather Where You Are?

The Russian Academy of Science has published the latest from the Russian space lab solar studies and predicts we are entering another mini ice age due to a record minimum solar sunspot activity level. It has been ongoing for a number of years and why there has been no average increase in global temperatures for many years in spite of warming predictions. Sea ice is at a record for April in the Antarctic and ice is increasing globally. We just had a snowstorm drop a bit here in San Diego's mountains. IN MAY!
Snowblower futures are looking good.
I feel sorry for you folks in the Northern areas. The last two Winters may be the usual for decades to come. Stock up on heating oil.

Re: How's the Weather Where You Are?

Have you heard the latest one? Now they're talking about..... Dark Lightning!!! Lightning that's invisible.

Apparently it's a strong radioactive pulse that occurs high in the atmosphere (sorry if you're already nervous about flying) but only occurs about once for every 1,000 regular lightning strikes.

The Frogs are drowning here in Oklahoma. Our 5 year long drought is over. The reservoirs are full. Starting to feel like Seattle around here but we have the occasional twister to deal with. Well you have to take the good with the bad sometimes. Rain is in the forecast 9 out of the next ten days. Record rainfall for May already.

We have had record rain here in San Diego and even snow in the local mountains. Nothing that will break the water shortage but still unprecedented for May. Weatherman says "super El Nino" is in the future which may indeed provide drought relief this Winter.
