Re: Albert Cummings

I wasn't even sure which thread to post this on because it's not something you will see everyday! wink

As I mentioned earlier, Albert and his band mates, Karl Allweier (bass/backing vocals) and Conor Meehan (drums), stopped by the club called Intermission where Aaron Williams and the Hoodoo were performing that night. Well, both Karl and Conor couldn't help themselves and just had to get in on some of the action.

In the first video, it always amazes me to see a drummer sit down and with just a few subtle ques from Aaron, play a song I'm sure Conor never had played before. He's using Eric's drum kit. The second video features Karl on lead guitar using Aaron's Fender Thinline Telecaster. I had heard Karl also played lead guitar, but I didn't know he was this good. cool

Aaron Williams and the Hoodoo "Wrong Me" with Conor Meehan on drums... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3YtgWS2P2w

"Rock Me Baby" with Karl Allweier on guitar, Conor Meehan on drums and Z on bass... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlUDeQoUyTE

Enjoy,

Roy

Re: Albert Cummings

For you Albert Cummings fans out there, Albert now has an instructional DVD out and it can be ordered here: http://www.halleonard.com/product/viewp … I.facebook

In addition, within this past week, Albert told me he now has finished his "best record yet!" Look for the new album to be out early next year. Unfortunately, I don't know the title of it, but if Albert says it's his best, then I along with a number of others will be in line to buy it! smile

Re: Albert Cummings

I'm more than eager for some new Albert!!  I know I sound like a broken record, but he needs to get to Europe with this new CD. Construction is slow in the Winter, perfect time to travel. Come on George, Andre and Co.....Work your magic!    Cathy

Gary, I can show you some masterful licks on air guitar. I even have learned how to play air guitar while cutting the lawn. Neighbors give me a bit of an odd look, but I figure they've never seen such expertise! wink lol

On the serious side, when I visited with Albert back in August at a Wausau Blues Fest, he was very excited about working on the album at that time. Now that it's finished, I really hope it brings him the notoriety that he so richly deserves.

Re: Albert Cummings

Albert lays down some great tracks, but I'd love to see him shed the Strat once in awhile and escape the SRV mold. Joe did it and look at the results.

Re: Albert Cummings

Picked up my copies of Albert's new instructional DVD this past weekend and got a chance to watch it today. I must say this is very good stuff, more like Albert is having a conversation with a friend rather than trying to teach in a formal lesson. He covers many different aspects of playing and performing in his easy going manner. I think the best thing he says in the video is, "Be yourself, because everyone else is taken." cool

Re: Albert Cummings

Attention All European Albert Cummings Fans and Supporters...

Have had some private messages from Albert of late and wanted to past them on to you all. The subject of possibly going over to Europe, expecially to England and Germany, came up and Albert told me this...his words...

"Have your friends in Europe contact DJs and request me over there. I'm working on it but I need help."

So that is THE WORD from Albert.

I myself, am lucky enough to have two VIP passes including back stage to this year's Paramount Blues Festival in Grafton, Wisconsin. Here is a link: http://www.graftonblues.org/paramountbluesfestival/

You might note, Albert is not even the headliner on Saturday. When I told him he really should be he did say, "Thanks Roy!
Anna is better looking! smile "

I guess I can't argue with Albert there. wink

Re: Albert Cummings

Wow, 2 years since anyone has posted on this thread about Albert. We went to see him last night for the first time. Long 3 hour drive up to PA, but he was totally worth it. Had a great time and it was made extra special sharing the experience with Cathy and the General. He put on a fantastic show, played over 20 songs and we got to talk with him both before and after the show. Super nice guy.
