Topic: DSOB Track by track for guitar geeks?

Oh damn, not enough guitar porn and info in the deluxe editions booklet for the guitar geeks amongst us. I was hoping for a which guitars on which track run down, but alas not. Not even the double page gratuitous porn like DTTD had. So failing this please could we have a Joe Bonmassa book of guitar porn ala Billy Gibbons Rock and Roll Gearhead book? Thanks in advance. Loving the album as usual....need to search out the Best Buy version for here in the 51st next.

Yeah, no gitgeek feeding this time, but... check out that Huffpo interview with the hint of a BonaByrd next year in the Gibson line. Start saving boys and girls.

Any link to this interview????? I think that the Bonabyrd is one of the coolest looking guitars ever made so that would be great:)

You cant compare Jimmy Page with God. I mean he's cool and all, but he's no Jimmy Page!!

I'll pass.

Though as far as I can tell, it looks like pulling min-Etune off leaves the headstock unmolested, but is it entirely self contained, or is there wiring off of the headstock required? (I looked at Tronical's web page, but it wasn't coming up)

Re: DSOB Track by track for guitar geeks?

I think the Les Paul and Firebird guitars are two of the most timeless, stunning and beautiful guitar designs of all time. I also think that the Bonabird is the ugliest thing I have seen in a long while. I can only think that there is function in having the longer bass strings because, IMHO, it sure ain't pretty. I wouldn't have one as a free gift from Gibson but hey, each to his own and I'm sure they will sell if it goes into production.

Re: DSOB Track by track for guitar geeks?

The Bonabyrd just doesn't do it for me. For as long as I can remember, for some reason I've never liked the look of all the tuners on one side. I've always liked the Fender sound, just not the look. The Les Paul has been my favorite guitar since the 70's, and to see that body shape with different head just seems odd to me.

Great interview!  "King of the anthill ... I'll be somewhere in Australia buying iTunes copies by the dozen" - hilarious.

I think it's just in reference to the gibson story announcing price increases, dropping the lower cost models, and making min-Etune standard across most models.

Vibration of the strings should stop at the nut. I think the asymmetric headstock is just an aesthetic choice. Though there can be affects from the portion of string above the nut. I have a strat that had a vibration of the g string above the nut. But that is an adverse unintended affect.

I'm no scientist but the overall length of the string from stop bar to tuner has an impact on the tension so the longer the string the higher the tension. The Firebird style headstock therefore should therefore mean that the E, A and D strings have a higher tension than a conventional Les Paul headstock.

I hope so..... But it will cost a lot of money if they chose to make these guitars
