Topic: Red Rocks Reviews

Since I can not attend this mind blowing event I thought that I could at the very least beg(down on bended knee) my fellow bona buds to post early and often about the show. So I started this thread.   I know there is a roll call on here somewhere but this topic is for the set list and memories of being there.   Trying to imagine what wonderful Howlin Wolf and Muddy Waters songs he will pick but no doubt what ever it is, he will for sure just slay it.  Best wishes to Joe and the band.  Safe travels and wishes for lots of fun to my bona-friends in attendance.  I am sure it will be Bonatastic tongue

Follow me on twitter @BonamassaLive, I'll be tweeting from the show. I'll throw in some pictures too. smile

Re: Red Rocks Reviews

Bill: you might know the answer to this.

At Joe's shows earlier this year, they said all recording was ok, just no cameras with detachable lenses.

Do you know if the same will be true here, given that it is also being recorded? I'll be buying the recordings for sure, so it isn't super critical, but I like to be able to listen to concerts I've been to again.

thanks
tim

Re: Red Rocks Reviews

I and others have recorded video and audio with small cameras at shows he's done video shoots of. Policy says no dslr cameras but small ones are ok. Just assuming it will be the same and hoping I can get some nice stuff from my front row center seat to add to my large library of Joe on my channel as are others. I'd hate to see some smartphone vids though, the audio is so bad on them it is a wasted effort.

I don't know mine until I get to will-call. I used promo passes from a Tour de Force set, and Tamara assured me they're "artist reserved" and won't be in the back. So we'll see. smile

I don't need video. I'll just buy the blu-ray. (I kind of marvel at people that pay to attend a concert and then watch it through their smartphone screen as they record it. I get wanting to capture it, but IMO you lose the experience of watching it, as well as annoy those behind you if you hold your phone over your head.)

I would like to put audio on my iPhone, so I'll bring a dedicated audio recorder. This is costing enough that I want to be able to listen again. I can use it as a one-track running playlist, and get the net cost down to $10 per listening over the next year. :-)

Re: Red Rocks Reviews

A reminder from Rachael in the office. Red Rocks camera use is up to the venue. Red Rocks searches all bags, etc. for cameras and recording devices and they are not allowed. She reminds us that IF we do manage to get one in or a phonecam, to please not use flash since it messes up the DVD shoot.

Re: Red Rocks Reviews

I may be old school, but why can't fans just enjoy the show and feel the music instead of worrying about their phones and recording etc.
Not meant to be negative criticism, just an observation of the changing times, I guess.

Welcome to the forum. Most fans look forward to vids from the first shows of a special tour to get a peek at the new songs rather than the near year long wait for the dvd release. This is especially true with this very limited mini tour which will have a unique and never to be played again set. Phone and minicams are ubiquitous at shows now. Might as well enjoy the results.

There will be a tailgate party with a very large (50+) contingent of forum and facebook BonaNation fans in the Upper South lot a couple of hours before the show. Bring your own libations and chow. Most of us will be flying/driving in as well and are mostly staying at one hotel in Golden. Come find us and say Hi! For coordination, we have a private group called BonaRedRocks which you can join by asking if you do fb.

Oh thank god!! Based on the topic, I thought I might have snoozed and missed the show!
Our ride to O'Hare picks us up at 3:30 AM tomorrow. Never thought I'd be so excited to get up that early. See y'all soon.

The drive from the airport way out in the stix across the heart of Denver basically sux. We hit it at rush hour today and it took an hour and a half to go 20 miles. Reminds me of LA but with a tenth the number of freeways. sad

Colorado has grown way to fast. I'm retired and no longer have to fight the traffic.

Re: Red Rocks Reviews

The backup band:  I see from the Cheyenne videos that Anton Fig is back on drums.  He was at the Royal Albert Hall with Joe.  And I googled Kirk Fletcher, who fronts his own blues band and is joining Joe onstage.  Anyone know who the bass player is?  I didn't listen to the videos from the warmup shows, don't want to spoil the moment tonight.  So happy the show of the lifetime is finally here today.

Michael Rhodes is on Bass and Reese Wynans is on keyboards
