Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

Would love to know if there are any dates for December?

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

See Blow To The Head is listed in Classic Rock #201 on their month's tracks receiving heavy rotation. Nice one  cool

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

Thanks for your kind words (and reviews)about the album. Everything we hear is positive. Currently having a great time in Germany and Czeck, audiences have been amazing. Last night we played a venue that that had JBs poster the wall from 2009 and look at him now, incredible.

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

Haven't had chance to play the album yet - after hearing some of the reports decided it may be necessary to buttress the walls of the house first.....

Can say though, the other part of the package that arrived on Friday, namely the t-shirt, is a killer. Had it on at gigs over the week-end and certainly caught some attention.

Got my copy. Thanks very much to Martin and VATA. Kick A$$ Music! I'm way more than pleased to have invested in this. Very much worth the wait and the snippets along the way just whetted my appetite. Now to get lucky and hear them live.

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

Here are the first two numbers from the CD Launch Gig at The Borderline to whet your appetite for the upcoming tour or to relive a great gig if you were there.

Take Me Higher

Blow To The Head

Ars Longa, Vita Brevis

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

Thanks for the vids Phil. I'm happily reliving the evening and what an evening it was. You can always tell the best gigs because you're still thinking about them days after. I've got bits of the setlist from Monday playing over and over in my head. It was a brilliant show featuring their new excellent album.

It is a stunner Martin. It's really heavy and rocking. You know I'm partial to the Blusey stuff, but I'm happy Virgil is happy and receiving well earned accolades smile

Virgil & the Accelerators - Ferryhill Mainsforth Community centre 25/10/14

Met up with Virgil before the show, while I was catching up with Martin, their manager and was a bit concerned as the lad seemed to have a heavy head-cold, no doubt from touring back and forth round southern Europe, especially Spain, but once he was on stage and the opening bars of Take Me Higher rang out, you have to know the lads really well to know he wasn’t 100%. Have to say, the new album material is very strong live, the material has more the feel of “songs” and not excuses for Virgil to wander off any excuse he feels a solo, though one or two numbers pushed 8 minutes. Mind you, when he does go off on one, what a trip - 3 standing ovations through the main set. And what about the closer ? It should be Are You Experienced? But I call it Are You Accelerated? I’m not a big fan of Hendrix, especially when a lot of bands I see always seem to pick the same 2 songs (Red House & Voodoo Chile) however, some bands come along, pick something different and make it their own, and that’s what these lads have done with …Experienced, all 22 minutes of it.

Certainly one of the best audience turn-outs I’ve seen at Mainsforth, and by the way the merchandise was selling. “Mike the Blog” became “Mike the Flog” for the evening.
